FAOI 14 CAILINI:
We’re North Kerry Ladies Div 3 League Champions !!!! Ballymacelligott 3-7 Dingle 0-12 Following recent victory’s over Castlegregory , Kerins O Rahilly’s and Moyvane we travelled to Dingle Friday evening for the deciding game . Leah O Neill was missing due to an appendix operation this week .We wish her a speedy recovery . Dingle got off to a great start and went 4 points to no score ahead , we struggled to win ball but Aine Rice and Rose Ann O Shea came more into game and Niamh Rahilly’s move to centre back settled us back into the game . Our first score came from a good free kick from Therese Keane . From the kick out we won possession and worked the ball to Rachel Godley whose shot looped in over the Dingle keeper . Further points from Ashling O Connell , Rachel Godley and Aine Rice saw us lead 1-4 to 4 points . Dingle fought back again and scored 2 more points before the break. Half time score Ballymac 1-4 Dingle 0-6 . The second half saw Cora Savage and Emily O’Donaghue come on and Therese Keane switched to midfield . Dingle started very positively again and scored 2 points to lead by 1 .
Ashling O Connell thundered into game winning good possession from kick outs and from one of these Rachel Godley found herself in front of the Dingle posts ,- she made no mistake for her 2nd goal of the game , another point from Ashling stretched our lead to 3 points . Dingle came back again but our defence were brilliant during this stage of the game , Claire Kenny leading by example executing a fantastic block down on a Dingle shot for goal . Caoimhe , Tara , Micheala , Maeve and Niamh cleared ball after ball . Despite this, Dingle scored 3 points, 2 from frees to level the game again . Cora Savage popped over a good free and then spilt the posts from play to give us an advantage again . Eve Creedon and Catriona Sommers were introduced for Ballymac with 12 minutes to go and Rose Ann O Shea came back on at midfield . The next Dingle attack saw them work the ball into a goal scoring position but Robin White pulled off a brilliant save followed by Catriona who cleared the ball . A pointed free for Dingle saw the margin down to a point with minutes left . Robin found Aine with the resultant kick out and we worked the ball via Cora , Eve , Rachel to Mary Healy who blasted the ball to the net . This was the final score of the game and the final whistle was greeted with joy by our girls . The North Kerry League shield was presented to captain Rachel Godley on behalf of the delighted Ballymac girls and supporters . This was a brilliant team effort with all 21 players contributing but the performance of goalie Robin White was the differance between winnning and losing tonight This is a great win for this group of players who have been on the wrong side of final defeats previously , they’ve played 14 competitive games this year winning 12 . They have represented the club brilliantly all year and have been great ambassadors for Ballymac Ladies Club . Well done girls !! Thanks also to Ann Kenny who ensured the jerseys were clean and fresh all year , James Godley who secured sponsorship from Dram construction for the jerseys and finally to the girls parents for bringing them to games and training all year and encouraging the girls. Well Done and many congratulations also to coaches and mentors Donal Rahilly, Patrick White, Ted Murphy and James Godley who worked tirelessly with the girls and made the season such an enjoyable one for all the girls.
