CAILINI FAOI 13
Sandra Keane Memorial Blitz
The club’s under 13 girls were invited to attend the annual Sandra Keane Blitz in the John Mitchels complex on Saturday last. With sixteen teams in attendance and they divided into four groups of four our girls were competing against Moyvane, Kerins O’Rahillys and Doora Barefield from Clare.
In the first game we overcame Moyvane easily but found Doora Barefield a different proposition in the second game losing out in the end by two points after a great secondhalf performance. Final score was 2-04 to 2-02.
In the final game of the group stages we took on Kerins O’Rahillys and beat them on a scoreline of 2-05 to 1-03. This meant we finished second in our group and all teams which finished second in each group played each other in two semi finals.
We were pitted against local rivals Desmonds and after a great battle we lost out by two points. The girls gave everything throughout the day and could hold their heads high.
Teams and scorers throughout the day were as follows; Ellie Linehan, Roisin Long, Sophie O Donoghue, Eve Creedon, Sinead Mc Keown, Cathy Palmer, Caoimhe Carroll, Emily O Donoghue (1-05), Kate O Connor, Lisa Curran (3-01), Laura Dunne, Ellie Mc Elligott, Cora Savage (5-07), Aoife Galvin (1-0), Millie Dunne, Jade Riordan.
