We have got guidelines from Croke Park that clubs can return to training once safe distance can be maintained. Until certain criteria are fulfilled by clubs our Grounds remain closed until 29th June. Requirements include the club chairpersons, secretaries, coaches and players all completing an online coronavirus educational module, while a Covid supervisor must be appointed for each team. The only activity we are insured for at the moment is normal maintenance /grass cutting etc until the 29th June.
There is no Player Injury Scheme cover in place and collective group training, regardless of where it takes place, is not covered under the Player Injury scheme at the moment.
Return to GAA Activity
This week we were given the welcome news that the GAA could start to look at reopening.
However due to the ongoing threat posed by COVID19 to our families and communities returning will require a lot of pre planning and preparation.
This will be confounded by the fact that a lot of our volunteers are also preparing to go back to their workplaces and/or reopen their businesses.
The reopening process brings with it a lot of personal responsibility for everyone using our premises and everyone taking part in our games.
This is a summary Checklist of things that have to be done BEFORE we reopen:
- A 15 Page Document that was sent by Croke Park has to be circulated to everyone and read by everyone PRIOR to returning. This is on our web site www.ballymacgaa.com (click here for access)
- Everyone has to familiarise themselves with the basic Medical information as outlined in this document.
- All actions in section 2 have been undertaken to prepare the facilities for the reopening.
- Chairperson and Secretary or their nominees have completed the on line Gaelic Games Education model.
- Each Team Prior to training has appointed a Covid Supervisor and they have completed the on line Gaelic Games Education model.
- A Timetable has been set out so that individual teams know the training times & allows for cleaning up and no overlapping of players from individual teams.
- All participants and/or parents have completed the on line Gaelic Games Education model.
- A system is in place for completion of player Health Questionnaire and recording of Temperatures.
All players (parents or guardians in the case of underage players) and personnel involved in training must complete the mandatory Gaelic Games online education module which will be available on the GAA eLearning portal (further information will be provided when its available) and record or document a certificate of completion for the Covid Supervisor prior to any resumption of training and/or playing activities
This online module will include information such as:
COVID-19 disease update information (including symptoms)
Information on Club facilities use
Transport guidelines
Information on Club facilities use
The Role of the Covid Supervisor
Health Questionnaire
Reporting protocols
Contact tracing
Personal, facility and equipment hygiene standards
Training protocols
Transport guidelines
Education materials – posters etc – will be visible throughout GAA facilities as per section 3 of this document.
Players (parents or guardians in the case of underage players) and personnel will sign the Health Questionnaire indicating that they understand the risks involved in participation, that they are participating on a voluntary basis and that all participants may opt-out at the start or at any time before or after resumption of training and playing activities.
It is essential that everyone in the club works together to ensure compliance with these guidelines.
Our web site will be updated with all the latest information.
