Scoil Nuachabhàil and Currow NS served up a superb game of football on Wednesday evening last in Austin Stack Park in the Final of the 6/8 teacher Schools Cumann na mBunscoil competition.
Exchanges were even in the early stages with the score level 0-3 apiece midway through the first half.
The Ballymac team then had a period of dominance and two goals before the break saw them leading at half time on a 2-7 to 0-5 scoreline.
Currow began the second half in determined fashion and early points reduced the deficit.
When they struck for a goal with ten minutes remaining to leave just three points between the sides it had supporters on the edge of their seats.
Full credit to Scoil Nuachabháil for their excellent defence which ensured the goal which Currow required didn’t materialise.
When the final whistle went it was the Ballymac school who were celebrating victory on a 2-9 to 1-9 scoreline.
