U15 County League Finals: Reports 2021
This quote came to mind this week as our U15s suffered two loses in County Finals over two days “It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly…who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who have never known neither victory nor defeat.”
It was so brave of some of our players who suffered the loss on Wednesday night to dust themselves off and play their hearts out on Thursday night again and suffer a loss of one point. It was so disappointing, yet all those young players all stood together and walked to the presentation area and congratulated their opponents on their wins. It is not easy to lose games and it hurts. All the U15 players did our club proud and their dignity in defeat is a credit to themselves, their coaches and families. Beidh lá éile agaibh.
Hard work and commitment have been put in by our Coiste na nÓg over the past ten years. Exactly ten years ago we had to join Churchill at minor level to field a team and our U14s fielded one team including two ladies on the stating 15. Now we have two U15 Boys teams playing in competition and an U14 Girls team. It’s great to have two teams at any age group and see all the players getting games. Credit to everyone involved. Its massive progress in ten years.
U15 Ballymac Blue team V Tarbert
Our U15 team travelled to Finuge for the Div 4 Final V Tarbert. From the start Tarbert were dominant and despite our backs and goalie working hard Tarbert were well up at half time.
Ballymac started the second half the brighter and has some good scoring chances. However, Tarbert pushed on after the water break and notched up a good few point to win the game. Ballymac never gave up and tried hard to the finish. They played with heart and dignity and were very disappointed at the end.
U15 Gold Team V Keel /Listry
Having won the toss for home venue our U15 Gold team played Keel/Listry at home on Thursday night.
The game started with a cracking goal from Alex Riordan and he followed with a second one immediately after the first water break. Our forwards were creating some good scoring chances. Mairtin McKivergen and Matthew Rogers were flying in the forwards. Everyone was working hard and we were 2-06 to 1-05 up at half time.
The second half saw Keel/Listry really push on and they scored four points to our 1 before the water break. The last quarter was end to end stuff and with seven minutes left, Keel/Listry got a goal from a penalty and pointed immediately afterwards.
In the last few minutes Ballymac were awarded a penalty and Martin struck the back of the net. This left the minimum of a point between the teams. However,in the last play we were unlucky not to score, but great credit to the players for a massive effort and the game ended with us losing by a point: Ballymac Gold 3-08 to Keel /Listry 2-12.
Disappointment was etched on the faces of our lads at the final whistle and they can all still hold their head up high as they played with passion and did their best.
Many Thanks to everyone who turned up and supported us over the two nights. It was wonderful to see such great support from parents and supporters.

U 15 Boys Blue Match Report
Division 3A County League v Firies
7/7/21
Needing a win to qualify for the county league semi final we travelled to Firies determined to collect the two points up for grabs, and the boys did not disappoint.
Dominating in most areas of the field in the first half we lead 6-07 to 1-05 at halftime meaning the second half was only a matter of keeping the scoreboard ticking over to get the result needed. In defence Eoin Moriarty led the way at centre back ably assisted by Tom Long,Conal Savage and Conor Martin with Shane Gilroy and Jack Joy working very hard in mid field. Jack Slattery was in great form at centre forward along with Mairtin Mc Kivergan, Micheal Savage and Jamie Burke. Final score was 7-13 to 2-07.

Kenmare B 6-10
Our gold team took to the field last Tuesday evening 6th July 2021 with great confidence knowing that we had already secured a semi-final spot and we were looking for a good performance from the lads.
Kenmare started the brighter and were first to evert ball inside the first 10mins, we tried to regroup at the water break and the lads tried hard for the remainder of the 1st half to go in at HT 2-03 to 3-03 down.
Unfortunately the 2nd half was all Kenmare and they ran out convincingly winners on the scoreline of 3-04 to 6-10, hopefully our lads regain the fluid football they played before this game and try and get into the final.

U 15 Blue Team Match Report: Division 3A
We travelled the short distance to Na Gaeil on Wednesday last for round 4 of the county league. On a really glorious evening for football the hot conditions did not stop both teams from delivering an excellent game for those present. While Na Gaeil emerged victorious by two points at the end on a scoreline of 3-21 to 5-13 they were made fight to the bitter end to claim the two points up for grabs.
Outstanding for us throughout the game was Tom Long in defense, Eoin Moriarty and Shane Gilroy in midfield with Mairtin McKivergan and Micheal Savage doing very well in the forward division. All to play for still in the division with a semi final spot up for grabs.

Kilcummin B 3-07
Ballymac Gold 3-07
We travelled away last Friday evening for our 3rd round game knowing at least a draw would secure us a semi-final place.
We shot straight out of the blocks when our corner forward Ciarán O’ Connell fired in 2 well taken goals inside the first 10mins. Kilcummin to their credit kept ticking their scoreboard over to stay in touch with us but our backs were keeping them at bay with Evan, Tom, Cian Gilroy, Eoin Joy, Padraig Reidy and Donnacha Enright playing well throughout the game, our keeper Luke was finding our players from his kickouts. Upfront Jamie Burke kicked 2 frees to put us 4pts up at the break.
Into the 2nd half and Gearoid Healy got a cracker of a goal and Michéal O’ Connor kicked a point from 35yards out to put us 6pts clear. From here Kilcummin pushed hard and kept attacking and got within a point when Alex Riordan who was causing their fullback problems all night kicked a point followed by another point from Ciarán.
Kilcummin scored a goal in the dying minutes followed by a last minute free to draw level. All in all we can feel a small bit disappointed by letting them back into it but we have another game at home to Kenmare B Tuesday and a semi-final after.
On Wednesday evening last the 23rd June a total of 32 players took to our field to represent the club in County League action with the Blue and Gold teams. Well done to all the players, coaches, parents and club for making this happen.
Division 9A Gold Team v Dr Crokes

Ballymacelligott Gold 1-13
The first game threw in at 6pm against the Killarney boys and our lads assumed control early on getting our first point from the boot of Alex Riordan followed by a goal from the hard-working Gearoid Healy from midfield. Alex again along with Shane Brosnan added two more points to stretch our lead to 1-03 to no score before the Crokes registered their first score of the half. They went on to add another two scores before halftime but in the same period our boys put another two goal from Sam Slattery and two points from Jamie Burke to leave the halftime score 3-05 to 0-03 to our boys.
The second half played out with Conor Martin scoring another goal along with two points from Ciaran O’Connell. Luke Griffin in goals and the young Padraig Reidy at half back really showed up well all through the game. The final score was 4-07 to 1-05 in our favour. Well done to both teams and thanks to Dr Crokes for a very sporting game.
Division 3A Blue Team v Churchill

Ballymacelligott Blues 4-04
A keenly contested game from start to finish ended with our boys getting over the line by the minimum against an excellent footballing side in Churchill. Goals win matches they say, and that’s how this game played out at the end, on a scoreline of 4-04 to 0-15.
Defensively our boys protected their goal mouth excellent throughout the game with Cian Harris in outstanding form in goals saving a penalty with ten minutes to go in the second half to add to some great saves during the game.
Our backs stuck to their task all through tracking the fast and nippy Churchill forwards every move. Our two midfielders worked so hard for the hour with Eoin Moriarty scoring a great goal in the first half. Up front Michéal Savage led the way contributing 1-4(2f) from full forward with Luke Silles putting a goal to his name also.
Down two points with a few minutes to go the hardy and hard-working Jack Joy burst down the centre of the Churchill defense and stuck the ball in the net, off his weaker right foot, to the delight of all the Ballymac supporters present. Great heart and never say die attitude was the hallmark of the boys play on the night. Well done boys.
Thanks to Churchill for a very sporting game and one must acknowledge their point taking throughout the game.

U 15 Blue Team Match Report 16th June 2021
The Lee Strand County League Division 3A: second round at home to Kenmare.
On Wednesday evening last we entertained a very strong Kenmare side in round 2 of the league. After ten minutes of the first half the scoreline was one to us and five to the travelling team. We had kicked some very bad wides in this period which would have kept us on terms.
Kenmare, just after the quarter hour mark struck for a goal to leave us trailing by seven points. They went on to add another 2-02 before half time to really end the game as a contest. While they played with a sweeper to telling effect, and played some excellent football, it was their strength, pace and power that our boys could not match in central positions. At underage level this has a huge bearing on games. One would have to wonder should they be playing in a higher division. The second half played out with the Kenmare boys winning convincingly on a scoreline of 1-06 to 6-13.
U15 Gold Team Match Report

Laune Rangers V Ballymacelligott
Laune Rangers 4-06 Ballymac 3-02.
The boys made the trip to Killorglin Friday evening and put in a very steady performance against the locals. Leading at halftime by a point the boys showed great courage and tenacity throughout the first half.
With our goalie Luke Griffin very solid in goals he along with our six backs kept a very busy Laune Rangers forward line at bay time and again. Matthew Rodgers excelling throughout taking the game to the opposition ably assisted by the two boys in mid field Micheal O Connor and under 13 panelist Eoghan Joy. While we didn’t get the result we wanted the boys really tried hard all through the game.
Final score; Laune Rangers 4-06 Ballymac 3-02.

U15 Blue Team : Lee Strand County League Division 3A First Round
We travelled to Dr Crokes on Wednesday night 9th June last for our opening game of the year.
On a beautiful evening for football our boys dominated the first half everywhere except on the scoreboard. Great endeavor was shown all over the pitch only for the Crokes goalkeeper making three or four fine saves to leave the score at halftime 0-4 to 0-5 to ourselves.
The second half began with a goal a piece from each side , Jack Joy providing the goal for us.
We went on to add seven more points to Dr Crokes goal and two points which left us four points to the good at the final whistle.
It was an excellent team performance from Cian in goals, Cathal, Conal, Stephen and Micheal in the backs. Shane and Eoin worked tirelessly in mid field with Jack Joy, Mairtin, Luke and Jamie doing well.

Our U 15 Gold team beat St Pats on Sunday in a challenge game on a scoreline of 3-11 to 4-04.
It was a very very entertaining game with some lovely football played by the winners.

In relation to Semi-Finals:
Winners of A plays Runners-up of B and
Winners of B plays Runners-up of A in top division Semi-Finals.

In general 1st placed teams and 3rd placed teams will have home venue in their respective
Semi-Finals but final decision on Semi-Final venues will be decided by the C.C.C..
The points cut-off for ranking of teams in the U-15 County League will be determined on the night of
the final round of the group stage of the competition, irrespective of whether there are any back games
to be played.
Notes for Teams & Referees
U-15 games to be played on Wednesday evenings.
U-15 County League Rules:
✓ Games to be 30 minutes a half.
✓ Unlimited Subs are allowed.
✓ Size 4 football to be used.
✓ Games to be played on a full-size pitch.
✓ Kick-Outs to be taken from the ground.
✓ “Mark” rule will apply.
✓ Advance Mark rule will apply.
✓ Sin Bin rule will apply.
✓ Five goal rule does not apply.
✓ All other rules as per the current GAA Official Guide
Any Clubs with two teams in a competition must submit their first-12 (plus second-12 for three teams)
at least two days before the second-round games.
Referees to be appointed by the relevant committee in charge.
❖ If the appointed Referee fails to turn up and a neutral Referee is not available, the travelling team
shall appoint the Referee.
First named team has home advantage. If pitch is unplayable home Clubs are expected to give at least
3 hours’ notice of any pitch problem. If suitable alternative is not found, home team travels to the
opposition. Last minute weather conditions may result in pitch problems and then the referee must
decide if pitch playable.
❖ In the event of a team not fulfilling a fixture (a) such team must travel to opponent’s venue in the
following season (not applicable where there is a new draw for the leagues) and (b) a fine may also
be imposed by the C.C.C..
As per the Covid 19 Guidelines, Teams must submit a complete list of all players (recommend the
use of the Official Team Sheet from the Foireann registration system), in duplicate, to the Referee prior
to the game. The list must clearly indicate the players that will start the game and also any players that
are available to come on as substitutes. It will not be necessary to give the players name to the Referee
for each substitution made. Players may come on and off any number of times during a game, but
only during a break in play and with the permission of the Referee.
For Finals, teams to submit team list identifying players, captain(s) and mentors at the latest four days
before Finals. Jersey numbers for Finals must correspond to the numbers printed on programmes.
If a team has an issue about the eligibility of an opposing player, the Mentor should ask the Referee to
(a) take the player’s name (b) get the players signature and date of birth.
Players are required to wear mouthguards during all matches and practice sessions.
Fixture queries must be addressed to the Co-ordinator in the first instance. For unresolved queries you
can then contact the Coiste na nÓg Secretary, Kathy McCarthy via email.

• Prior to the dates stated, any Club wishing to change a fixture must follow the six steps outlined
below for such a request to be considered:
1. Seek permission from the Co-ordinator
2. Agree change with opposition team
3. Agree new time with opposition team
4. Email the Co-ordinator, Coiste na nÓg’s Secretary and P.R.O.
5. Notify the Referee
6. Re-arrange appointment of Referee for new fixture
All results to be forwarded by Referees via Servasport on completion of games
