At a chilly but bright afternoon at the Ballymac GAA grounds today Ballymac were host to Na Gaeil in the first round of the Tralee Board Senior League . And it was a match not short of excitement. Na Gaeil wasted no time to put a mark on the score board just moments from the starting whistle, but Ballymac’s Jack Scanlon was quick to match the starting points with an outstanding response. From that moment it was point for point until Jack Scanlon widened the gap with the visitors and buried the ball in the back of net to ensure a safe exit from the first half with a score board marking it 1-6 to Ballymac to Na Gaeils 8 points.
The second half was sure to be be an edge of seat spectacle with Na Gaeil coming back to yet again surprise the hosts with another opening point within the first minute of this half, but Ballymac were not to be pushed back and dominated the second half throughout. A final well deserved goal from Vinny Horan and 6 more points put Ballymac into safety with many attempts from the visitors to respond but just managed 4 points in this crucial half which was not enough to out score this determined Ballymac side. Final score Ballymac 2-16 – Na Gaeil 12 points.
Well done to the hard working team and management in a fantastic start to the season. We look forward to more great performances in the coming season.
