U12 North Kerry
Div 3 Final
Knock/Brosna v Ballymac
Thursday 18th May 2023
On Thursday last our u12 ladies travelled to Brosna for the final of the div 3 North Kerry league.
A 2-point loss against the same opposition at the same venue in an earlier round, gave us the belief that this could be our night.
We started really well. It was clear that we were up for this game.
However, against the run of play, a lucky goal for Knock/Brosna early on, gave them the advantage.
For 3 quarters of this game, we were right there with them. Never more than a point or 2 in it.
Our girls were playing some super football. Our defence was really on top. A feature of this game was the number of block downs made successfully by our girls, all over the pitch.
We combined really well at midfield and up in the forwards, but on at least 2 occasions, 2 certain goals were denied by the woodwork …had these gone in, who knows??
We tried so so hard, but in sport, you need luck, and luck had very much deserted us on the night.
The final quarter was not ours and saw our proud defence breached, and the opposition got in for the goal that they had been desperately searching for.
The final whistle sounded much to the heartbreak of our warriors.
We gave it our all. We tried our best.
We can’t ask for any more.
We look forward to our next game. Captains on the night were Emma Lynch and Katie Lenihan

Round 2
Ballymac V Kerins O’Rahillys
Venue: Ballymac Date: 24-04-23
U12 Girls
Our u12 ladies played their 2nd game of the North Kerry League on Monday evening last in glorious sunshine in glorious Ballymac! Playing with the wind, our forwards moved well and kicked some good points. Our midfield were doing very well as were our backs and goalie.
Half time score was Ballymac 1-6 KOR 1-4
2nd half
Playing against the wind was going to be a real test of character, fitness and ability. And we passed all 3 tests with flying colours. Each and every player contributed to a fantastic team performance, and can feel proud of their contribution.
Captains for the night were Holly ONeill and Hannah O’Rahilly. Credit to the girls on our team who had played a soccer blitz earlier in the day, and still managed to play the game after. 1 of these players even managed to squeeze in a music lesson before the game too!!
A talented and committed bunch! Final result: Ballymac by 3 points!!
Next up is away to Knock/Brosna next Tues night.

North Kerry League 2023
Round 2
Annascaul V Ballymac
18th April 23 in Camp
On Tuesday evening 18th April 2023 our under 12 girls took to the field in our 1st game of the season.
Though we were supposed to be at home, an unplayable pitch meant that we had to concede home advantage and take on our opponents in Camp Community Field.
This did not phase our girls once bit.
All the girls played with great heart and determination. Good ball skills were very much on display throughout the game. What was really pleasing though, was the large panel of players we had, with each player giving their all when called upon.
The future is bright for these girls.
Captain for the game was birthday girl Doireann Broderick.
Next up is a home game v Kerins O’Rahillys on Monday at home in Ballymac at 6pm
