CHURCH-GATE COLLECTION
Many thanks to all of those who helped out with the Church-gate collection at masses in the Parish over the week-end. It was a good success and our sincere appreciation to those who contributed so generously to the collection. It goes a long way to defraying our running costs throughout the year. Both our u-12 squads had useful outings against John Mitchels last Tuesday. With two games running simultaneously all squad members had much game time and everybody seemed to have enjoyed the Go-Games. Everybody appears to be getting used to the new rules and hopefully it will work well in the forthcoming season. Everybody impressed on the night including Rachel Godley, Christopher Lowe, Cillian Gallagher, Joshua O Keeffe, Micheál Hoare and Brian Lonergan, to name but a few. Great progress is being made at the moment, due to the commitment of all team mentors. We intend to return the compliment to John Mitchels in the near future when we will travel to Chamfers for a rematch.

Central Region Rd 2 Result: St. Pats 2 – 02 Ballymac 2 – 08.
We continued on our winning ways with a hard-fought win over near rivals St. Pats in Blennerville. Having played against a gale force wind in the first half we found ourselves two goals adrift at half-time with only one solidary point to show for our efforts.
However, Ballymac took advantage of the elements in the second half with goals from Mossie and Chris Leen. Further points from Dylan Goggin saw Ballymac edge in front and we battled hard to the end to secure two more valuable League points. Best on the night were Scott O’Brien, Sean Savage, Neil O Sullivan and Stephen Bermingham.

Central Region Rd 3 Result : Ballymac 6-05 Austin Stacks 4-10. We followed up with a one point win over Tralee rivals, Stacks in a most entertaining encounter in Connolly Park on Friday evening last. Leading by a point at half time due to goals from Jack Scanlon and Vincent Horan, Ballymac came under pressure from Stacks in the second half when conceding two quick goals. The introduction of Gerard Browne seemed to have galvanised Balllymac and further goals from Chris Leen, Jonathan Brick and Vincent Horan saw us through by the minimum at the end. Another competent display with improved performances from Sean Doyle, Graham Breen, Patrick O Connor and Jack O Shea. Rd 4 was played on Monday evening last against Lispole with match report in next weeks notes.

County League Rd 2 Result : Ballymac 4-07 Firies 2-08. A hard fought and deserved win over Firies sees Ballymac top the division after two rounds. This was a close affair with Ballymac beginning the stronger with Gerdie O Shea and Morgan Quirke causing untold damage in front of goal. Cillian Brosnan and Christy Leen scored two first half goals which saw Ballymac lead by 5 points at half time. The first 10 minutes of the second half saw Firies dominate and they cut the lead to one point with a flurry of scores. However our lads drove on once more with fine effort from David Long, Aaron Dunne and Tomás O Connor. Jack O Shea settled the nerves with a long range goal only for Firies to respond with a goal of their own. However, Cillian Brosnan bagged his second goal when he stole inside the cover to seal a five point win over Firies. Foireann : Gary Horan, Max O Brien, Eoin Lyons, Robert Dowd, David Long, Jack O Shea, Tomás O Connor, Aaron Dunne, Joseph Cassidy, Morgan Quirke, Chris Rogers, Micheál Reidy, Gerdie O Shea, Christy Leen, Cillian Brosnan. Subs; Paddy O Donnell, Brian O Connor, Daniel Goggin, Eddie Rogers. Round 3 sees us travel to Templenoe this Wednesday.

Another big turnout on Sunday last from all in the academy. Great work is being done by all concerned especially by the mentors once again. It was great to see some of the parents lending a helping hand at times which is very welcome, considering the huge numbers attending each Sunday morning. Many thanks to those who helped with the shop, club merchandising sales, registration and stewarding on the morning. Without their voluntary help, the club would not be able to function in such an effective manner. Next Sunday April 17th will be our last training session before we take a well earned break for Easter Sunday and we will re-commence on Sunday May 1st once again. Keep practising those skills at home, boys and girls.
