02/08/2025 Ladies All-Ireland club 7’s
Sat 2nd August 2025 the Senior Ladies entered new ground with taking part in the All-Ireland club 7s in Naomh Mhearog Portmarnock . We were entered in the junior competition based on our standing in championship in Kerry . While we were limited to a panel of 12 and we travelled without some key personnel . We were placed in a group containing Whitehall Colmcille Dublin , Fr Murphys London and Dunnamaggin Kilkenney , games of 13mins a half . First up were Whitehall Colmcille at 9.45am and our 1st 4 attacks yielded 3-1 which set us up nicely for the remainder of the game . While the Dublin side did respond with 4-6 the Ballmac girls ability to keep the scoreboard running by taking punched points was the difference 4-15 to 4-6 to Ballymac. Next up Fr Murphys & we continued the high scoring rate 4-17 to 1-5 , we wrapped up our group games v Dunnamaggin 6-10 to 10pts .
Lunchtime break for the girls and our masseuse Kerry and Robyn went to work on tired legs . Niamh Rahilly on 1st aid duty ensured strapping and knocks were attended to . Our semi final v John Lockes Kilkenny kicked off at 1.45pm , this time it was 10mins a side . The Ballymac girls went to work and duly gave a great display 4-13 to 1-3 . Defensively we were very strong now . 15min turnaround for the final where we faced Muckalee of Kilkenny who had blown away all their opposition during the day with their goal scoring …35 in total . A strong athletic team v’s our skillfull speedsters made for a cracking finale. 1st half was tight and a goal from Roisin separated us 1-3 to 0-3 . Rachel Griffin on for injured Una Kerins made an immediate impact on 2nd half. A Jamie Lee o Connor goal put us up 5pts midway through but Muckalee responded with a goal of their own and followed up with a point leaving 1 between us with 3mins left . Roisin bagged a screamer and Kate Collins tackling and running in the final minutes ensured we kicked a final free to make it 3-7 to 1-8 to us . We kept possession for last play to see out the day as All-Ireland Club Junior 7s champions!!! Robyn and Una accepted the Cup on behalf of the team .
A memorable day , fantastic competition in a first class venue .
Panel was Robyn White , Una Kerins ,Roisin Rahilly,Sarah Scanlon , Rachel Creedon , Kate Collins ,Jamie Lee o Connor ,Ella Quirke,Laura Kelly ,Emily O Brien and Rachel Griffin.
