U14 Boys – Division 3 Central Region Semi-Final
Keel 5-17 – 5-16 Ballymac
On Sunday, 24th August, the Ballymac U14 boys travelled to Keel for the Division 3 Central Region semi-final – the third meeting between the sides in Keel this year. Despite previous heavy defeats, Ballymac showed significant improvement and fought bravely in a thrilling encounter.
Facing a stiff breeze in the first half, Ballymac started strongly with dominant play but were unfortunate to miss several golden opportunities in front of goal. An early injury to our goalkeeper proved a setback, and Keel capitalised with clinical finishing to take control.
Half-time: Keel 4-7 – Ballymac 2-7
The second half saw tactical position changes that sparked a Ballymac comeback. The boys battled hard, overturning the deficit to take a three-point lead. However, two black cards left us temporarily down to 13 players, and Keel took advantage of the extra space to edge ahead once more.
The game ended in a narrow one-point defeat, Keel 5-17 to Ballymac 5-16, but it was a tremendous effort from our players who showed resilience, skill, and clear progress throughout.
A big thank you to all the parents for their fantastic support – we are incredibly proud of the team’s performance and growth.
