*Ballymac GAA v Laune Rangers GAA – Minor County League Division 1 Semi Final*
*Ballymac GAA 4-14 (26)*
*Laune Rangers GAA 1-12 (15)*
Our Minor team played Laune Rangers GAA in the semi final of the County League Div 1 competition on an overcast/showery evening in Ballymac GAA pitch on Monday Evening, July 29th in front of a fine home crowd who were in great humour after Kerry’s fantastic win on Sunday.
Before throw in, a minute silence was observed to mark the untimely passing of Dr Crokes minor mentor Jamie Doolan. Ballymac GAA would like to pass our sincere condolences to Jamie’s family and all at Dr Crokes GAA. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
In the opening period, both teams went at it in a largely cagey affair. However, for the home side it was a half of goals from Luke Griffin, Sam Slattery and a fine placed placed effort from the penalty spot from Jack Joy that laid the platform for our initial advantage however the visitors kept in touch with their own efforts over the bar. Half Time Score 3-4 to 0-9 to the home side.
Ballymac took a massive strangle hold on proceedings following the restart. Jack Joy produced a number of fantastic two pointer efforts with the ever industrious Mike Quirke coming up with his own long range two pointer to drive home our advantage. Then, Ciaran O’Connell found the back of the net with a lovely pass from Mairtin McKivergan to push the game beyond doubt. It was a full team effort from our goalkeeper Cian Harris, to our six backs, midfielders and our forwards all making contributions. We ended up winning the encounter by 11 points in the finish.
This victory means we will have a final to look forward to with details to be confirmed in the coming days.
The club will provide the details in the coming days.
