Our Minor team played Kenmare Shamrocks GAA in the second round of the County League Div 1B competition on a wet and blustery evening in Ballymac GAA pitch on Monday Evening, July 14th.
In the opening period, it was Ballymac who showed the hunger and desire from the outset dominating most areas of the field. Scores from the likes of Jack Joy, Ciarán O’Connell and with goals from Sam Slattery & Luke Griffin reinforcing our advantage. Notable mentions also for Eoghan Joy, Eoin Moriarty Conal Savage & Mairtin McKivergan, who were an affective partnership in the middle of the park and who helped lay the platform for this first half display. Gearoid Healy also played well in the opening period with two fine balls to help open up the visitors. Ballymac led at the break 2-06 to 0-05.
Ballymac continued our dominance in the second half with the ever imposing Luke Griffin directing a fine palmed pass from a high ball into the path of Ciarán O’Connell to finish off the assist. Ciarán was in clinical form where he found the net on three further occasions to finish the night with a very impressive 4-04 with his third goal standing out particularly. Cian Harris was also immense in goals with some fine saves and his kickout was very effective in difficult conditions. Overall, a fantastic display by our minor team who are now two wins from two after another convincing win against Rathmore last week.
With two home wins under our belt, we will visit Lewis Road next Monday evening with a top of the table clash with Dr Crokes to see who either side will face in the semi finals. Ballymac Abu!!!
