Minor Boys
Blue Team:
Ardfert GAA v Ballymacelligott GAA – Minor County League Div 2A– Round 5
Ardfert GAA 0-11
Ballymacelligott GAA 0-11
Our Minor team played their fifth and final game in the County League Division 2A against Ardfert GAA on Monday Evening, April 10th in blustery conditions in Ardfert.
In the first half, Ballymac hit the ground running with some invigorating football and some fine scores given the conditions. However, it was Ardfert who rallied in the latter stages of the half with some fine scores of their own. At the break, it was Ballymac 0-7 / Ardfert 0-7
The second half was a nip and tuck affair with both sides taking turns in terms of opportunities. This was a high-quality encounter given the blustery conditions. Both sides exchanged scores but could not be separated with a final score of Ballymac 0-11/Ardfert 0-11
However, the draw was not enough for our lads to proceed to the Div 3 semi–final. Management could not have asked anymore from the players in terms of effort and application. The central region will be soon upon us and all the best in that upcoming competition.
Well done to our boys for the effort shown on the day and throughout the league campaign.
Micheal Savage (0-04), Ciaran O’Connell (0-02) Eoin Moriarty (0-02), Mairtin McKivergan (0-01) Jack Slattery (0-01) Jack Joy (0-01)
Gold Team
Minor Div 8 Semi-final
Kenmare 3-05
Ballymac 3-08
We had to make the long trip down to Kenmare as our home pitch was unplayable due to the consistent rain.
This did not stop us as we set out to contain the Kenmare attack where our backs were outstanding in the first 10mins, after this period we settled down and controlled the game for the remainder of the half going in at HT leading 3-04 to 1-03 with goals from Jamie Burke, Gearoid Healy and a sublime finish by Cathal White.
The second half was much tougher as Kenmare came at us with everything and we didn’t take our early chances, with some fine play Kenmare came within 1pt of us, but our lads showed great composure in the last 10mins to play the ball around and pick off some fine scores to run out winners by 3pts in the end.
Scorers on the night.
Jamie Burke 1-01
Gearoid Healy 1-01
Cathal White 1-00
Ciarán o Connell 0-03
Eoghan Joy 0-02
Luke Griffin 0-01.
We now play the Div 8 final this Thursday at a venue to be confirmed and this is a historic achievement by this group as its the 1st time ever Ballymac has had a 2nd team in the County Minor league and have reached the final.

20/03/23
Our Minor team played their fourth game in the County League Division 2A against Glenbeigh/Glencar GAA on Monday Evening, March 20th.
In the first half, Ballymac hit the ground running with some crucial goals from Ciaran O’Connell & Luke Silles. Our lads work rate was high and continued up until the HT whistle where Ballymac led 2-03 to 0-4.
Ballymac had to withstand constant pressure from Glenbeigh/Glencar who ferociously fought their way back into the contest and were back level midway through the second half.
However, our lads showed some great tenacity to turn the tide back in our favor with some great points taken and two decisive goals from the boots of Ciaran O’Connell and Luke Griffin which led us to a vital victory in the division.
Another resilient performance shown by the lads, and it was a most satisfying result for all those Ballymac people in attendance where it keeps our county league season very much alive.

Minor County League Div 8
Round 2
Dromid/Waterville 0-10
Ballymac Gold 0-10
11/03/23
Our second team ( Gold ) at minor level made the trip by bus to Dromid deep in South Kerry on Saturday afternoon last to take on a Dromid/Waterville combination.
A scoreline of 10 points each at full-time was probably a fair reflection at the final whistle but in saying that our lads had a few goal chances throughout the game which would have given them a bit of breathing space to eke out the victory.
Level on six points each at halftime the second half proved a dogged affair with both teams defending heroically right to the death.
While scores were at a premium those that did come our way were very well engineered and taken by our lads.
Going down to 14 men ten minutes into the second half didn’t make life easy but our lads really dug deep to get something out of the game.
Heart and togetherness made sure they were not leaving without something to show for the journey.
Games like this educate and bring huge learning for all the players and management. Well done to all.
