Scór at Ballymac GAA – Celebrating Our Culture
Scór is a unique GAA competition that blends the excitement and community spirit of Gaelic Games with the rich cultural traditions of Ireland. Since its foundation by the GAA in 1969, Scór has aimed to promote Irish music, dance, storytelling, and heritage — giving club members the chance to represent their club off the pitch, especially during the quieter winter months when football and hurling take a break.
At Ballymac GAA, we are proud to be part of this tradition. Scór includes eight disciplines that highlight all aspects of Irish culture: Figure/Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation/Scéalaíocht, Nuachleas (Novelty Act), Instrumental Music, Set Dancing, and the Table Quiz.
- Scór na bPáistí- National School Pupils
- Scór na nÓg – for those under 17
- Scór Sinsir – for over 17s
Just like the football and hurling championships, Scór begins at club level, with winners progressing to divisional or district stages, then to the County Final, followed by the Provincial Final, and ultimately the All-Ireland Final.
All-Ireland Scór champions receive their medals from the President of the GAA and earn the same national recognition as our football and hurling heroes — they are All-Ireland champions in their own right.
We encourage all members of Ballymac GAA – young and old – to get involved and help keep our culture alive and thriving!
