Easter Saturday 8th April @6pm in Connolly Park. (scroll down for video clip highlights)

Austin Stacks: 1-13
Ballymacelligott 3-13

The heartwarming lesson from this match came eight minutes into the first half when Ballymac rallied and scored a point when Stacks had gone two points up. The Ballymac lads having had two defeats in the County League could have lost confidence, however their resilience showed and they scored three more scores and never lost this lead until the final whistle.

It was a beautiful breezy evening in Connolly Park and there was a great support for both teams on this Easter Saturday evening. Aidan Breen opened the scoring with a point. A point from Michael O’Callaghan and two from Shane O’Callaghan gave Stacks a two point lead. Ballymac united in their purpose scored three points one a free from Aidan Breen, one from Daire Keane and a free converted  from Aidan Breen on a foul on Niall Collins. The score after fifteen minutes was 0-3 to 0-6 to Ballymac.

Stacks scored a point , a  point each from Aidan Breen  and Niall Collins  followed by a goal from  Daire Keane increased the lead for our lads. Three more points from Stacks and one from Ballymac left the half time score 0-7 to 1-9.

After the break Niall Collins continued to rattle the Stacks back line with his perceptive runs and was working well with his fellow forwards. Points from Donal Daly and Vinny Horan and two from Stacks left the goal between them. Niall Collins game was over  after a particularly nasty foul. A point from Michael Herlihy followed by two goals from Aidan Breen & Vinnie Horan ended the game as a contest. Donal Daly scored Ballymac’s last point. In the last five minutes the home team scored three points and got a goal from a penalty well into added time.

This was a good result for Ballymac with a man of the match performance from Dylan Dunne Moriarty well supported by his fellow backs. Christy Leen did well in goals and his handling and distribution added to the flow of the game.  Once again great performances from by the forwards who worked well as a unit ensured Ballymac got that well deserved two points.
